Visiting New York Like a Native in 72 Hours

72 Hours in the Big Apple and You're Worried You Won't Have The Chance To See Everything? This Guide Will Be Your Life saver!

You're in New York for the next 72h, so this means you need to hurry, there's plenty to see! I've created a guide for you that I think will give you the augmented big picture of the city that never sleeps, and I've added some of the spots where I ate while in NY!

No time to lose, let's go!

Times Square

Well, dahh! It's obvious your first stop will be the dazzling light panels of Times Square, there's no way you could leave NY without contemplating them! I know you have a strict time schedule, but don't cheat! You must take 10/15 min to walk and check all the Times Square panels, store windows, some shops if you fell like spending!!

Timesaving Tip: There are tons of hotels near this part of NY, so if you can, book one that's nearby Times Square and that way, you'll be passing here as a way to get to other destinations, which means you'll save some time!

PT:

China Town + Little Italy

Make sure you take a strengthened breakfast, 'cause you'll be walking the entire day, you have a lot to get to know today!

In China Town you'll fell like if you've just entered a new country, everything adorned with Chinese symbols, I even caught some Chinese New Year's decor on the streets! Little Italy is a super sweet part of New York full of lovely Italian restaurants and some cute stores! Oh and you have the Audrey Hepburn wall there, you must go look for it!
Timesaving Tip:  As you don't have a lot of time, you should get on the subway and leave at China Town or close by, and start visiting the streets from that part until Little Italy, they're both close to each other.

PT:

Dumbo + Brooklyn Bridge

Now, you can just walk all the way until the Brooklyn Bridge! Just watch out for the pedestrian entrance of the Bridge, otherwise you'll be entering in the wrong side!
So, start by enjoying the super nice views the Bridge has to offee you (to both Brooklyn and Manhattan) and you can even stop to take some nice pictures (check the best places here). Cross tge bridge and you can  try the famous Shake Shack burgers in Brooklyn, not my favorite, but they were fine!

Timesaving Tip: Walk around Dumbo and take those iconic pics, but don't mind going all the way to Williamsburg if you don't have the time! We've been there and it's not as lovely as we thought!

PT:

Empire State Building + Flat Iron +Top of The Rock + 5th Avenue

If  after all this, you still have the energy, I suggest you get the train to the Flat Iron just to check it, and then walk until you find the Empire State Building! Try to catch the sunset hour, so that you can see Manhattan by the sunset light!

In the next day, start by heading to the Top of Rock to check another Manhattan's view, but this time, in the daylight, and walk down 5th Avenue to get there, so that you can see some of the shops they have!

Timesaving Tip: You can buy your tickets to both the  Empire State Building and Top of the Rock online, this way you'll avoid being in the line to buy tickets!

PT:

Wall Street + The Charging Bull + The Fearless Girl

Now you have some decisions to make: either you try to get the free ferry to see the Statue of Liberty or you head to Wall Street and then World Trade Center and the museum they have there! If the weather is nice and the line for the ferry is not too long, they go for the ferry!

If you decided to go to Wall Street, once you arrive there you'll see everything is close so it's easy to visit and most importantly, it's fast!

Timesaving Tip: If you went on the ferry and also want to visit Wall Street after that, look for the Charging Bull and Fearless girl, the New York Stock Exchange and take a quick look to the corporate buildings surrounding you and you're done!

PT:

One World Trade Center + World Trade Center + 9/11 Museum

One World Trade Center formerly known as Freedom Tower is the new building in the World Trade Center area,  so you'll be able to check the memorial too!

If you still think you have some free time, head to One Wold Observatory, which is in the One World Trade Center Tower and it's one of the most amazing views to Manhattan! The line is not that long, mine was just 10 min long!

Timesaving Tip: The museum does have a free time but only on Tuesdays, so you might have to chose between the museum and the Observatory! They're both amazing, both the museum takes longer to see!

PT:

Grand Central Station + New York Public Library

After this super tiring day, you're still not free to go to the hotel and simply rest! There are 2 stops left to do, but they're close to each other, so it'll be super easy!

Catch the subway from the World Trade Center until the Grand Central Station and you'll be mesmerized by the size and beauty of this train station! Take some nice pics (see where here) and head to the New York Public Library, "the classic New York landmark that houses all the great love stories", so Carrie Bradshaw said!

Timesaving Tip: The New York Library is lovely, but you'll be fine if you just check the main room (the one on the picture below, as it's the most beautiful of them all!

PT:

Têm tempo para tirar algumas fotos giras (vejam onde aqui) e sigam para a New York Public Library, "the classic New York landmark that houses all the great love stories", como disse a Carrie Bradshaw!

Central Park

In your last day at New York, I though you'd like to see the Central Park, but I must warn you that due to the snow and weather changes, the park is not as beautiful as I hoped it would be!

However, there's a place that's super worthy to be seen, which is the Bethesda Fountain! It has some amazing cloisters with the most beautiful ceilings ever, you'll love it!

Timesaving Tip: Stick to what matters: the ice ring, the Bethesda Fountain and if you have time, the Strawberry Fields!

PT:

Upper East Side or MOMA

Now you have a choice to make: either you walk all the way to the Upper East side until you arrive at the Met and check the building, or you head back to 5th and go see The Museum of Modern Art (MOMA).

If you're into art and you love museums, then don't miss MOMA, it's one of the best museums I've ever been to!! Imagine staring right in front of the The Starry Night from Van Gogh, you'll love it I promise!

Timesaving Tip: The real magic happen on the 3rd floor, so if you're lacking the time, just head to the 3rd floor as soon as you enter and start checking the amazing paintings!

PT:

Grabbing Some Iconic New York Bites! 🍔🍩

Westway Diner

The perfect spot to have a strengthened breakfast near Times Square, and trust me you're going to need it! They're combo of eggs and toasts is awesome and not expensive at all, but my favorite bite were the pancakes with Nutella and strawberries! Simply delicious!

PT:

Cheese Pretzel

You can't leave NY without trying their famous pretzels!! We tried 2 different ones: the cheese pretzel which was my favorite (as seen in the picture below) and the pretzel pizza, but this one we could only find it in the entrance of the Central Park near The Plaza Hotel!

Best Bagel and Coffee

Another of the American breakfast traditions! They say the "Best Bagel and Coffee" has some of the best bagels in town! I ordered one with cream cheese, but wasn't very fond of it, but I know the one with butter is good!

PT:

Bill's Bar and Burger

One of the best burgers I've ever tasted! This place is located inside the Rockefeller Center and it's simply amazing! The atmosphere is great, the waiters are nice and the food is simply delicious! Not super cheap, but you deserve a little gift sometimes!

Taiyaki

When you're in China Town you must simply try this Unicorn Ice Cream from Taiyaki, it's the cutest thing ever and it tastes good as well! The Unicorn Ice Cream is a New York must try and the regular flavour is strawberry, but you can change it to whichever you prefer!
